About Our Association:
The American Sewing Guild is a national non profit organization dedicated to the people who believe that sewing is a rewarding and creative activity.
The Denver Chapter is made up of members of all skill levels and from many different walks of life. Learning new skills, networking with others who share an interest in sewing, and having the opportunity to contribute to community service sewing projects is our common thread.
FAQ
• How much does it cost to join the American Sewing Guild?
You can attend two meetings without being a member. It’s $50.00 to join for the first year. Renew before your anniversary date and you pay $45.00 for the year. Late renewals must pay $50.00.
• What do I get for my membership?
You will receive a year of friendship, learning, and fun. Jo Ann's, Hancock's, Nancy's Notions and various other vendors offer discounts to our members. You receive two publications. Notions, a National publication quarterly and the local newsletter, Thread Affair bi-monthly.
The local chapter has quarterly meetings (one month on the South end of the city and the next quarter on the North end of the city) with interesting events and speakers.
There are two events each year for people who want to get away and spend a few days sewing.
• Do I have to be a person who sews or an expert to join?
No! Crafting and Sewing are intertwined these days. Embellishing store bought clothes is the “in” thing. Many of our members are into scrap booking, jewelry making, quilting, yarn crafts, clothing, and all hand art forms.
• If I have other questions where do I go for answers?
You can attend one of our meetings and ask all the questions you want or you can go to the American Sewing Guild Web site (www.asg.org) for more information.
